Created for the 3ºW Gallery at Island View, the Wordsworth
Trust, Grasmere, Cumbria, April 22nd - July 1st 2001
Inspired by the rocky relationship between man, his surroundings
and the real and imagined history already embedded in that
land and in those memories, the intention was to provoke new
associations in the mind. The visual artillery included books
earth mirrors the written word and television screens; aurally,
constantly tuning radios and controlled chaotic combinations
of sound. The artists suggest the relationship is active,
and maintain that the land is not purely an impassive mass,
but something exhibiting evidence of experiences.
A limited
edition CD and catalogue was produced for the installation.
